While serving as Commander of the Hamilton County Justice Center, Charmaine McGuffey instituted policies and programs to engage and better serve the community, staff, and incarcerated individuals.
• Charmaine McGuffey leads with openness, collaboration, and transparency. This begins with listening to Sheriff’s office staff and the community, so that together optimum solutions to enhance safety in the community and in the jail, are implemented.
• Strengthen partnerships with community social service agencies to enhance Sheriff’s Office programs that promote post-release support.
• Charmaine McGuffey will re-establish the community-wide committee she founded while commander of the jail, consisting of interested parties, agencies, and law enforcement to address community issues that reduce incarceration and recidivism.
• Enable the community of family and friends to maintain connections to incarcerated persons in order to maximize a successful return to the community upon release from jail.
